Vintage Style Portraits

As well as modern formal or relaxed portraiture, I have a keen interest in re-creating the romanticism of years gone by. Brought up on a musical diet of old jazz and blues, combined with a cinematic diet of old black and white films, I loved the quick-talking sassiness of the stars of the 1930s and 1940s. Bette Davis,Claudette Colbert, Lauren Bacall, Marlene Dietrich and too many others to list had a wonderful sense of glamour as well as a fiercely independent attitude which was empowering to many a young woman.

Studying the work of photographers of the era, I look to recreate the style by use of focus, light, shadow and colouration.

To have a sitting in your own home, please drop me a line on the contact page. Prices will be as for an individual sitting - £80 to include one retouched print, £40 for each additional retouch. Vintage portrait parties will be charged at £60 per head (with a discount for more than 10 attendees) and a make-up artist can be arranged to visit and apply a makeover before the portrait sittings at extra charge.
